Any time I see a generator sold on an auction for a high sale price like this it takes me back to the year 1999. I was 10 years into my odyssey of compiling auction sale price data. Everyone was talking that year about "Y2K" as the calendar year 2000 quickly approached. By summertime 1999 I began to pick up on a distinct trend. Used generators were selling for big bucks.

On the other hand, very nice late model equipment sold on farm retirement auctions, such as the auction I'm covering today? Prices on these sales definitely trending much higher of late.

Plus used equipment values have been so high for the last 20 months, nowhere to go but down a smidge, right?" questions Machinery Pete. Maybe, maybe not. Find out how auction sale prices are trending and what state is seeing the highest auction sale prices in this week's column.
