The debate over health care legislation will push the Senate's work on a climate change bill into next year, Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) said Tuesday. Harkin is one of several farm state Democrats trying to improve a climate change bill recently passed by The Senate's Environment and Public Works Committee.

this week, Lisa and Eric Klein's hard work got some recognition, when Deputy Secretary of Agriculture Kathleen Merrigan paid a visit on Tuesday. Merrigan came to announce the first $17 million in grants from a new $75-million five-year effort in the 2008 farm bill called the Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program.
