My handheld camera will be rolling again today (Sept. 10) as I cover and film a real nice farm retirement auction in northeast Iowa.
Below I've highlighted (7) pieces of equipment up for sale on today's sale. As you can see, some very nice equipment:
- 2005 JD 8420 tractor, MFWD, with 1,075 hours >>
- 1997 JD 8400 tractor, MFWD, with 3,678 hours >>
- 1998 JD 9400 tractor, 4WD, with 2,415 hours >>
- 1998 CaseIH 2388 combine with 2,245 engine hours >>
- 2003 JD 2700 disc chisel, 7 shank, 1 owner >>
- Wilrich Quad 5 field cultivator, 48-foot >>
- Brent 740 gravity wagon >>
Click on each highlighted item above and you can view a picture of that piece of equipment, plus view our Machinerypete.com auction sale price data on that item. In the auction sale price data I have highlighted in blue similar pieces of equipment and what they sold for, as well as when and where they sold.
So, if we talk about the 2005 JD 8420 tractor with 1,075 hours and try to guess what it may bring on the auction today, kind of helpful to know about the 2005 JD 8420 with 1,860 hours sold back on February 17, 2009 on an auction in northeast Nebraska for $126,000. Also good to keep in mind the 2004 JD 8420 with 1,925 hours sold for $103,000 just a couple weeks ago, on August 25th, on a large dealer auction in northwest Iowa.
Key point there, the fact that the 8420 sold for $103,000 was sold on an implement dealer's inventory reduction auction. I've noticed a trend becoming more pronounced here the last month or so, namely that late model equipment sold on dealer auction has been selling a bit softer.
On the other hand, very nice late model equipment sold on farm retirement auctions, such as the auction I'm covering today? Prices on these sales definitely trending much higher of late.
I will be especially interested in the 1997 JD 8400 mechanical front-wheel drive tractor on the auction today. Looks awful nice. It's a one owner tractor with deluxe cab, 4 hyd., 12 front weights, 18.4R-46 rear tires, 420-90R30 front tires and 1,800 LB rear weight.
Back on 9/15/07, a 1995 JD 8420, original owner, with 1,600 hours sold for $88,000 in this same northeast Iowa region. Of course that was just prior to used equipment values beginning their mountain climb higher and higher. Click on the link above on JD 8400's and see the pair I've highlighted sold earlier this year: a 1997 8400 with 3,903 hours for $90,000 on a sale in west-central Illinois; and a 1997 8400 with 3,525 hours that went for $91,000 on an auction nearby in north-central Iowa.
Will the JD 8400 with 3,678 hours sell for $90,000 or more on today's sale?
I'll post video highlights from the auction on the web this evening (Sept. 10th). You can view the video either at Machinerypete.com, or back here at Agriculture.com. Just click on "Pete's Machinery Search" link of the left side of Agriculture.com homepage, then click "Machinery Pete Video."
