Industry predicts dramatic increase

Over the next 15 years, experts in the industry predict that the amount of energy generated from wind power will increase dramatically. Wind power produced in the U.S. was less than 7,000 megawatts in 2004 but could reach more than 100,000 megawatts in 2020.

Deere has created a business unit to provide project development, debt financing and other services for those interested in harvesting wind. The new unit will be managed by John Deere Credit. Robert W. Lane, Deere & Company chairman and chief executive officer said the wind energy initiative is consistent with John Deere's goal of helping its customers improve their profitability and productivity.
