"A real beauty."

How else could I describe a 2000 model JD 7810 MFWD tractor with only 590 hours on it? It's up for sale Friday on a farm auction in Reynolds, Illinois (northwest IL). Tom and Adam Kilcoin are the auctioneers on the sale. Check out the sale bill at www.kilcoinauction.com.

What will this very low houred 7810 tractor sell for?

Good question. On the following page, you'll find a table of actual auction sale prices we've compiled on other low-houred 7810s over the past two years. I wouldn't put too much weight on the auction sale prices from 2003, as used equipment values have shot up so much over the last 12-14 months.

See the 2001 MFWD model with 260 hours that sold last March in northwest Wisconsin for $68,500. That's a good one to compare with. Also note the first 7810 listed in the table. It sold just last Saturday on a farm auction in southwest Illinois. It was older, a 1998 model and had nearly double the hours at 1,015. It also was a only a two-wheel drive model. The MFWD option definitely should add in excess of $5,000 at auction.

So add it all up and it looks like the 7810 for sale Friday should be in the high $60K neighborhood, maybe even over $70K. We'll see.

(Update, 1/24/05: The 7810 wound up selling for a whopping $78,000!)

Kilcoins had a super farm sale of their own last Saturday in northwest Illinois. Featured on the auction was a 1990 JD 4755 MFWD tractor with 3,362 hours. It sold for $50,250. Only 4755s I've seen in the last year or so that were higher both had substantially lower hours, a 1991 model with 2,650 hours for $52,750 in north-central Ohio (12/03) and a 4755 with 1,182 hours for $55,000 in north-central Illinois (1/04).
