Monsanto is currently working on researching the water use efficiency of drought tolerant cotton. They are researching different cotton types and applying different water amounts in order to learn how much water each type of cotton needs. This research will help farmers to decide which type of cotton to plant based on their water supply. This study is currently being done in west Texas, Georgia, and South Carolina. Monsanto plans to begin similar studies on corn soon.
