As reports of potential seed shortages begin to surface throughout the industry, officials with Syngenta Seeds said this week they are releasing 10 new NK Brand soybean varieties with supply for the 2008 planting season. In addition, Syngenta Seeds is releasing nine more varieties that will be available for the 2009 season.
"When factoring in the nine new varieties for the 2009 season, we feel confident growers will have access to the best genetics and agronomic packages, allowing them to reach new levels of yield potential on their farms," says Steve Knodle, NK Soybean brand manager for Syngenta.
“The new varieties represent maturity Group 00 to a mid-Group VII and have demonstrated strong performance in trials,†said Gene Kassmeyer, head of the Syngenta Seeds soybean product line. “Many are bred to provide superior sudden death syndrome and soybean cyst nematode resistance, giving growers flexibility to choose the variety that matches the unique challenges facing each field.â€
The new NK Brand soybeans are available through Garst, Golden Harvest and NK Seeds dealers.
