Harvest is wrapped up at Beck’s Kentucky Practical Research (PFR)® site and this season had its fair share of challenges. Many of you experienced these same challenges, from cool, wet conditions early on to a very hot and dry June and an abundance of rain throughout July. What makes Beck’s PFR program so unique is that we test multiple products and management practices not just at one site, but across five other sites throughout our marketing area as well.  We then publish all of this data for you in our annual PFR book. No other company out there is providing their customers with this type of resource focused on market-leading products and practices.

One of the most interesting products we test each year is Beck’s Escalate™ yield enhancement system. Escalate is a unique blend of the industry-leading fungicides and the highest rates of insecticides available that comes standard on every bag of Beck’s seed. It also includes biologicals and a fluency agent to help improve flowability and reduce dust-off. 

Escalate is constantly evolving. We continue to test new ingredients as new products are released and improved upon. Beck’s PFR has been testing Escalate for seven years at our Indiana site and each year it continues to prove that seed treatments pay! 

The Indiana PFR site once again tested Escalate vs. untreated seed on four different soybean varieties in 2016 and saw improved yields on every variety with Escalate when compared to the control. The graph below shows that the four variety average for 2016 was 6 Bu./A. advantage with Escalate vs. no seed treatment.
