Setting Principles for No-Till

Michelle Thilges 02/05/2011 @ 12:55am I am a content editor with Successful Farming magazine. I focus primarily with machinery, fuel, transportation, weather, and grain handling.

Tom Oswald, a  Cleghorn, Iowa, farmer, has set up principles that he tries to accomplish with his no-till practices. He works by the thought that tillage begets tillage. “The most difficult thing is not doing anything,” he says. “It even includes ripping up end rows.” Oswald explains that once you keep tilling, it’s hard to stop.
