Don't use foam earplugs! 10/05/2012 @ 4:51am If you're a farmer don't use foam earplugs; they are porous so harbour germs, skin cells, farm debris and water, making them prone to give you otitis externa (outer ear infection). This is clearly made worse by rolling the earplug between your fingers before inserting. You are much better with moulded earplugs which don't need to be rolled, are more comfortable, harder wearing and these moulded earplugs even contain an antibacterial compound to help reduce the risk of infection. Don't use foam earplugs! 10/05/2012 @ 4:44am Foam earplugs are terribly unhygienic rolled between dirty fingers. The harbour bacteria, dead skin and farm debris and are porous, staying damp for some time, making them totally unsuitable for farm use. Custom moulded earplugs are much more suitable being non-porous and much more comfortable. You don't have to roll them between your finger and these ones even have an antibacterial in them to kill germs. http://www.zenplugs.co.uk/molded-earplugs/ Oscar
