August 2-8

Agriculture.com Staff 07/07/2010 @ 9:08am

We have had thunderstorms off and on all week. One brought hail with it that piled up on the ground and stayed until morning! I couldn't believe how hard it rained! Now it is dry and sunny again.

I worked on my store all week. The cleaning is pretty much done and so is the painting. My sign was delivered on Saturday and Shawn took the frame that he made for it in to get powder coated. We will put them up this weekend. Now the fun part starts. I have been looking forward to getting the merchandise and getting it set up and displayed. My animal health supplies will be here on Thursday and the feed probably Friday. I put the opening date, August 18, in the paper so I have a couple of days to ease into it. I want to be ready for customers on the 16th!

Shawn drove to Pasco and Umatilla all week but took Friday off so that he could help me. He is also taking this Thursday and Friday off. With me being at the store so much he has had to do the irrigating alone and helped me with taking care of the animals. He has also been great at fixing dinner for us. A girl could get used to dinner ready when she comes home!

This week was also the Wallowa County Fair! I was there almost all of Thursday and a little while on Friday. I watched Beef, Sheep and Swine shows for both 4-H and FFA. There are a lot of great showmen in our county, the kids did a great job. We know several kids that showed so it was fun to go and support them. Next year the store will be at the sale to buy an animal or two!

Our nephew Justin is coming up at the end of the week and we are looking forward to seeing him. I want to have as much done on the store as I can so that I can take some time to do something fun with him while he is here. We aren't sure how long he gets to stay but will enjoy him while we can.
