FarmWizard Announces GB Reseller Deal

NORTHERN IRELAND agri-IT company FarmWizard has announced a tie-in with one of the UK’s most well-established dairy software companies.
FarmWizard founder and managing director Terry Canning said the reseller deal with Orchid Data Systems could be worth up to £100,000 over the next three years as Orchid adds “Orchid FarmWizard” to its own range of products and services.

The Northern Ireland agricultural software firm, which was last year named as one of the Deloitte Fast 50 of rapidly-growing Irish technology companies, already manages herd information for over 1,000 customers around the world and has 2m livestock animals in its database.
Mr Canning said collaborating with Orchid, a family-run agri firm which has been selling software to dairy farmers since 1984, would see a significant number of UK-based dairy, beef cattle and sheep farmers using its cloud-based farming app technology.

The entrepreneur, who founded FarmWizard 10 years ago, said: “The deal with Orchid is a great endorsement of our cloud-based technology.”

“The reseller model is a great route to market as it gives access to an existing customer base. The strong brand that Orchid has built up over the years in the dairy sector means that selling FarmWizard to their customers becomes much easier than approaching these farms directly ourselves.”

Orchid Systems director William Rands said FarmWizard’s tried and tested cloud-based technology had been a major attraction.
“We were particularly impressed with the FarmWizard smartphone app which allows farmers anytime anywhere access to their herd management information,” he added.

The tie-in marks the second reselling deal for FarmWizard since New Zealand genetics company, Livestock Improvement Corporation, chose it as its international livestock and herd management system.

LIC FarmWizard is now used by New Zealand-style farms with an average of 1,000 cows in the UK, US, Australia, South Africa and South America.
