Mobile farm manager
John Deere’s Mobile Farm Manager application gives you easier access to important farm and field information through your iPad and iPhone, and it connects to the Apex farm-management software.
The app’s functions include field maps, historical reports, GPS tracking, field navigation, and soil-sampling grids.
“With Mobile Farm Manager on your mobile device, you now have remote access to the important agronomic information you need in order to make better management decisions,” says Tyler Hogrefe, senior product marketing manager for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group. “It makes it much easier to analyze field data such as application and fertility maps, soil sample grids and crop product data directly from the field.”
The app allows you to share agronomic information with ag service providers, farm managers, and other advisers as needed.
To purchase the app and to receive an activation code that can be entered into Apex, contact your John Deere dealer. The activation allows the data stored in Apex to be transferred to devices with Mobile Farm Manager.

Trimble’s Connected Farm app, which is free for smartphones, uses the built-in GPS of the smartphone to collect in-field data. The information can then be used to assist in quick and accurate decision making.
The app allows you to map field boundaries, calculate the area in acres, mark flags, take georeferenced photos, and enter scouting information for pests (weeds, insects, and diseases).
“We are seeing an increasing number of farmers and agronomists looking for apps they can utilize on their smartphones to help them collect important field data,” says Erik Arvesen of Trimble’s Agriculture Division. “The Connected Farm app gives you an easy-to-use tool to capture field data for later viewing and analysis online, while also providing agronomists with access to additional data they can use to better assess their customers’ needs.”
The app is available from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
To use the Connected Farm app data within Farm Works Office software, current Farm Works users will need the latest version, which can be accessed by subscribing to the Update Service Plan.
