The 2006 Four-State Dairy Nutrition and Management Conference is scheduled for June 14 and 15 in Dubuque, Iowa. Extension dairy specialists from Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin, along with a panel of industry professionals, will cover a variety of topics.
Jan Shearer, University of Florida, will discuss topics on lameness in dairy cattle and managing foot problems. Lon Whitlow, North Carolina State University, will address issues on mycotoxins and feeding management to avoid spoilage.
Other topics will include hoof care, dry period length, calf feeding economics, reproduction, milk fever prevention, rumensin feeding tips, long-day effect on heifers and first-lactation cows, and feeding heifers efficiently. Hands-on workshops will also be offered.
