The winner of the most unique new product at the 2007 National goes to the Push 'N' Drive Over Gate from Rem Enterprises. "We almost didn't bring it to the show thinking no one would be interested in the product," reveals Jody Duclos of Rem. "But the interest in it has just been phenomenal." This gate is easily pushed down by the bumper on a pickup or the front tires on a tractor or ATV allowing you to pass into a field or feedlot without having to get out of the vehicle. The spring-loaded gate swings back up after you have passed through the opening preventing animals from exiting. A nice feature of the gate's design is its "cushioned rods" which are easily removed so that you can walk through the gate. Available in 6-, 10- and 16-foot widths, the Push 'N' Drive is built stout enough to withstand the weight of a large horsepower tractor equipped with a loader without bending or breaking. The gates swinging joints are greaseable for longevity and it can be installed by just one person. For more information contact Rem Enterprises at 800/667-7420 or www.rementerprisesinc.com.

Professional hay producers as well as farmers that prefer to harvest with small square bales were drawn to one of the most innovative new products at the National. Bale Band-It, built by the Owen Brown family of Pittsfield, Illinois, gathers together twenty one (14x18-inch bales) small bales in a package and then bands them together using two steel straps. The result is a 31/2 foot wide by 8 foot long by 41/2 foot tall bale package that is easier to transport and store. The Bale Band-It can be pulled behind any standard baler and is hydraulically powered by the tractor. Operation of the unit is continuous without stopping for unloading or banding. Banding is accomplished by ½-inch-wide steel strapping that comes in two individual rolls that will package approximately 2,562 bales. "We've run economical analysis that show you can justify the cost of the Bale Band-It within a year from labor saving or selling higher quality hay," Brown adds. "This certainly makes storing hay as well as loading on and off trucks much, much easier." For more information call 217/285-6487 or go to www.balebandit.com.

Yetter Manufacturing choose the National to introduce a number of refinements to their product line including the Narrow Row Screw Adjust Residue Manager. Created for use on limited clearance planters running on 15- and 20-inch rows, the Screw Adjust features an exclusive self-detent handle for quick, one-handed fine-tuning. Optimal depth for all working conditions can be pinpointed because the Screw Adjust operates at 1/16-inch increments. A depth indicator guarantees that settings stay uniform across the rows of the planter. Other features include heavy-duty cast parallel linkage arms that permit residue-clearing wheels to float for maximum residue removal without engaging the soil. The Narrow Row Screw Adjust attaches directly to the faceplate of the planter row unit, and mountings are available to fit Case IH, Deere and Kinze narrow row planters. For more information call 800/447-5777 or go to www.yetterco.com.
