Values spike on used disks

GREG PETERSON 06/21/2012 @ 8:03am Greg Peterson writes "Machinery Pete" column for Successful Farming magazine and appears on the Machinery Show on RFD-TV, talking about trends in the used equipment market

I’ve blogged and written recently about rising values on good used tillage items.

More proof came from a pair of Dakota farm auctions the past few days. Saturday, June 16, 2012, on a farm auction in west-central South Dakota, the Krause 1900 20-foot tandem disk pictured below sold for $7,700. That is the highest auction sale price I’ve seen on a Krause 1900 disk in over 12 years.

This Krause 1900 20-foot tandem disk sold for $7,700 on a June 16, 2012 farm auction in west-central South Dakota, the highest sale price Machinery Pete has seen on a Krause 1900 Disk in 12+ years.

Click on the link below to view all the auction sale prices I’ve compiled on Krause 1900 Disks going back 16+ years.

Note the only Krause 1900 Disk I’ve seen sold for more $$ at auction came all the way back on 2/12/00 on a farm auction in north-central Ohio, where a 23-foot Krause 1900 went for $9,600.

Similar proof of RISING used tillage values came from a June 14, 2012 farm auction in southeast North Dakota, where the JD 1630 16-foot heavy duty tandem disk (pictured below) sold for $9,000. That is another new record high auction sale price, beating the former high sale price of $6,750 just set on an April 7, 2012 farm auction in southeast Alberta, Canada. Prior to that the record auction sale price on JD 1630’s was set on August 13, 2011 on a sale in northwest Illinois, where a 1630 sold for $5,200.
