Accessorize your UTV
All terrain and utility-type vehicles are fun to drive. But by adding the right accessories, you can transform these machines into custom workhorses. Last year we outfitted a Yamaha Grizzly with a myriad of accessories. This year it’s the utility-type vehicles turn.
Polaris Ranger Diesel
With the help of Kevin Peyton and Keith Webster, Iowa State University graduate students, we turned a Polaris Ranger Diesel into a multi-purpose machine.
The choices in accessories were endless. Through the generosity of Joe Greving of Cedar Rapids Tire, Seizmik, and Polaris, we were able to add several thousand dollars worth of accessories to this machine. And each piece was photographed for the magazine.
Kevin Peyton and Joe Greving install the winch, which is one of the top five accessories requested by farmers.
LED head light kit
Keith Webster installs an LED head light kit.
Cedar Rapids Tire
Cedar Rapids Tire supplies some new rubber for greater ground clearance and better traction. Installed were ITP Terracross 26-9R14 and 26-11R14 tires with
ITP SS312 14 inch wheels.
The front A-Arm guards provide added protection to the A-Arms from rocks, bumps, and debris you might encounter around the farm or ranch.
Cargo bed lift
By installing a cargo bed lift, emptying loads is made much easier.
The Headache Rack provides protection behind the seating area without compromising visibility.
The Sport Roof from Polaris provides much needed protection from the elements when riding in fields.
Lights, lights and more lights. A light bar is installed to enhance visibility.
The VersaShield is two windshields in one. Run it with the lower sectin as a half windshield for open air driving or run the upper section for great ventilation while still blocking wind and dust. Use both for full protection.
To see the entire list of accessories, be sure to check out the January 2012 issue of Successful Farming magazine. And tune in to a Machinery Show special in Spring 2012 that highlights the dos and don’ts of accessorizing a utility-type vehicle as well as an all-terrain vehicle.
