Cushman brand, which is owned by Textron, Inc., began with two cousins building farm machinery and two-cycle boat engines in 1901. It has since transformed into the manufacturer of a broad line of utility vehicles, including its latest addition – the 1600XD.
This machine combines four-wheel-drive capability with a 22-hp., 1,007-cc three-cylinder OHV diesel engine to handle big jobs on tough terrain.
The automatic, continuously variable transmission can be placed in high gear for higher maximum speed or low gear to take advantage of greater torque and pulling power. Top speed is 25 mph in high gear and 10.5 mph in low.
Total payload capacity is 1,600 pounds, and its 14.2-cubic-foot steel cargo bed can hold a maximum of 1,100 pounds. It can also tow up to 1,300 pounds from the rear receiver hitch.
