Leica Geosystems introduces electric steering solution

03/11/2013 @ 10:00am

Leica Geosystems has announced the Leica SteerDirect ES - a retro-fit electric steering system.

This easy to install system, which can be installed in a few minutes, gives customers hands-free GPS assisted steering. It simply latches on and off for easy transfer across multiple vehicles. The built-in clutch of the unit ensures no additional resistance to the wheel while the main gear eliminates the likelihood of any steering wheel slip. The system also comes with a separate engage switch, which lets the operator engage the system remotely. This steering system reduces skips, overlaps and operator fatigue as well as lowers fuel consumption.

The Leica SteerDirect ES is compatible with the Leica mojo3D guidance system and the Leica mojoXact. The system will be available in April 2013 for a number of vehicle specific kits.
