50-Year Old John Deere 4010 Tractors Up 27.3% In Value
This 1963 John Deere 4010 tractor with 8,000 hours sold for $9,250 on a September 29, 2012 farm auction in southwest Indiana.
John Deere made the 4010 model tractor from 1961-1963. So 50 years old now.
And worth 27.3% more now vs. 10 years ago.
Yep, it’s true. The average auction sale price on JD 4010 tractors back in 2002 was $4,798. So far in 2012 the average auction sale price on JD 4010′s is up to $6,110.
A good example of the rising value on JD 4010 tractors is the 1963 4010 with 8,000 hours sold on a September 29, 2012 farm auction in drought stricken southwest Indiana (see picture). It went for $9,250. Long-time auctioneer friend Jeff Boston of Boston Auction Service in Sullivan, IN had this sale. Jeff contacted me immediately after the sale and told me $9,250 was the highest price he’d ever got on a JD 4010 on a local auction.
I found it very interesting the strong premium paid for this tractor…even in a hard hit drought area. Just shows the growing demand for very nice condition (either original, or restored) John Deere tractors of this vintage, from the early to mid 1960′s.
I don’t see that trend slowing down any time soon.
