Big tractor prices at auction
Machinery Pete checked out a farm auction this week in Ottawa, Illinois, where he saw some record and near-record prices for Case tractors. Click on to see a few of those machines, the prices they fetched and more prices for similar models.
This 1996 Case 7250 MFWD tractor with 2,416 hours on it sold for $72,500 this week at an Ottawa, Illinois, auction. "The 4th-highest sale price I've seen," says Greg "Machinery Pete" Peterson.
This 1989 7140 tractor had just short of 4,000 hours on it and sold for $61,500, the "all-time highest auction sale price I've seen in the U.S. on a Case IH 7140 tractor," Peterson says.
This 1979 model 1486 tractor sold for $20,000 at the Illinois sale. That's the highest auction sale price Peterson's seen since 1997, he says.
This Gleaner R62 combine, a 2002 model with 2,154 engine hours on it, sold for $92,000 at the auction this week. "Second-highest sale price I've ever seen on an R62. Only one higher came back on 1/22/96 for a 1994 R62 with only 136 engine hours, sold for $94,000 in southwest Minnesota," Peterson says.
Rounding out the Ottawa, Illinois sale this week was a 1978 IHC Hydro tractor with 4,485 engine hours with an IHC 2350 loader. It sold for $16,500.
