A look at grain cart sales

GREG PETERSON 02/15/2012 @ 10:57am Greg Peterson writes "Machinery Pete" column for Successful Farming magazine and appears on the Machinery Show on RFD-TV, talking about trends in the used equipment market

Every auction is different.

I’m looking at example A right now, an upcoming farm estate auction February 25, 2012 near Tower Hill, IL. This sale is by Jordan Auction Service. What makes this farm sale unusual? Well, for starters it has NO tractors.

No tractors, but a very nice line of equipment, including this 2005 EZ Trail 510 grain cart:

So what’s this nice looking grain cart worth? Good question. To find the answer I turn to our “auction results” database in our www.machinerypete.com web site and find that values on used EZ Trail 510 grain carts have been going up the last 18 months or so. See for yourself:

Did you catch the one in “like new” condition just sold December 3, 2011 on a farm auction in northwest Illinois for $9,600? That is the 2nd highest auction sale price I’ve ever seen on a EZ Trail 510 grain cart. The highest price was $10,250 for the 2006 model sold on a farm auction in northeast Missouri back on August 24, 2010. Here’s a YouTube video I shot of that grain cart selling:

From the “upcoming auctions” searchable database of equipment on upcoming machinery auctions in our www.machinerypete.com web site, here’s a list of OTHER equipment for sale on the February 25, 2012 farm estate auction in Tower Hill, IL:

I spend some time each day in our “upcoming auctions” searchable database of equipment. Our staff takes all the upcoming sale bills we can get our hands on from all over and enters the equipment items in this database…so if you are looking for a particular piece of equipment, say a EZ Trail 510 Grain Cart, or a White 6186 Planter, click, click and you’ll see if any matches on upcoming auctions, where those sales are, the sale date, the type of auction (farm, consignment, dealer) the Specs, who to call, etc. Check back later in the week or next week and find tons of new equipment listings.

I’ve started to get some really nice farm auction sale bills in for March auctions…stay tuned.
