Complete sale price reports

What if?

All of this auction sale price data I've been compiling for 20 years, what if you could punch up a piece of equipment, look at all the sale price data on that item over the years and then go a step beyond?

Wouldn't it be cool if you could click on any item in the list of sale prices and see what everything else sold for on that auction?

Now that would be cool. It would be just like you were standing there at each auction watching all the equipment sell, except you'd never have to leave the house. Maybe everything on a particular auction sold on the high side, or a bit soft. Maybe just the trucks sold for top dollar, while the hay and forage equipment went cheaper.

You'd have an unbelievable amount of information at your fingertips.

Our programmers recently finished the work on this new feature in our Web site. So now when you look up auction prices on Case IH 7140 tractors (see data table below), you can click on any item in the list and see what other equipment sold for on that sale.

See the first Case IH 7140 listed in the table, sold for $20,000 on a sale in north-central New York 1/28/09? Seems kind of low, right? Click on it and you'll find that it was a consignment auction, which tend to produce somewhat softer sale prices.

You'll also learn that auction in New York featured a lot of cars (1981 Chevy Corvette with 74K miles: $4,500), a bunch of trailers (1998 Wabash 48' reefer trailer: $4,300), a slew of skid steers (Caterpillar 277 with 1,722 hours: $18,000) and many utility tractors (2007 Kubota B3030 4WD with cab, loader & mower deck: $17,000).

What about the Case IH 7140 sold for $53,500 on the 3/28/09 auction in east-central Illinois? That price seems awfully strong. Click on it and you'll see these other pieces of equipment sold on that sale.

1992 Gleaner R52 4WD combine with 1,566 engine hours: $45,000

(2) J&M 385 gravity wagons: $4,700, $2,600

1991 JD 7200 8RN planter: $6,000

1966 JD 3020 gas tractor with 5,868 hours, WF, one owner, 15.5-38 tires: $4,650

Brillion 15' cultimulcher: $750

So now we've kind of got the best of both worlds. You can find very specific data on a given item, such as the list of auction prices on Case IH 7140 tractors below. You can also look at the big picture, see how every piece of equipment sold on each auction, gaining valuable context.

Have some fun and click around in the data table on 7140s. In this example, I've provided auction prices on 7140s going back to last year. In our Web site you can go back 13 years if you want to, pulling up auction reports on sales from last week, last month, last year, as far back as you want to go.
