Well, I'm on my way.
Traveling down to west-central Illinois today for the much anticipated auction (to be held tomorrow Friday, March 6, 2009) featuring the 1982 JD 4440 tractor with 47 hours. It's been amazing to watch all the chatter about this sale over the last week. Thanks to the 1,200 folks who have already voted in the "What will it sell for?" poll question.
Last week I invited online visitors to submit a post with their pinpoint guess on what the 4440 will sell for. Still time to get your guess in before the auction tomorrow. We'll award 10 free "Rust Book" or "What's it Worth?" books to the closest price guesses. And if anyone hits the sale price right on the head. . . a free year's subscription to Machinerypete.com.

Below is a quick Auction of the Week feature with some good sale prices from a farm auction held last Saturday (February 28, 2009) in northeast Kansas. . . in a blizzard no less. Funny how those cold, snowy auction days always seem to produce good sale prices. Must be the falling barometer making folks bid again and again.
