Coming up for sale on a nice farm auction August 22 in northern Illinois: A Woods 3180 15-foot batwing mower. What's it worth?

Is it $4,000? $5,500? Maybe $8,000?

Don't guess, before you decide how high to bid, check out our facts on what other folks have paid for Woods 3180 batwing mowers. Click here to view the last five years of sale prices on Woods 3180s.

Here's the scoop from our "Calculator" pricing tool in our Machinerypete.com website:

  • Avg. auction price last year: $5,608
  • Avg. auction price 2 years ago: $5,150
  • Avg. auction price 3 years ago: $5,127
  • Avg. auction price 4 years ago: $6,411
  • Avg. auction price 5 years ago: $5,781
  • Avg. dealer advertised price last year: $8,000

Often times what a piece of used equipment sells for at auction depends on the overall quality of equipment up for sale on that auction. Click here to view the other 29 pieces of equipment for sale on this August 22 farm auction in northern Illinois. I pulled this info from the "Upcoming Auctions" database at Machinerypete.com/search site.

This looks like a nice farm auction. I always check to see what tractors are up for sale. Wow, look at the JD 5625 MFWD tractor with only 100 hours and JD 542 loader on this auction. Also a JD 4055 2WD tractor with just 2,989 hours, a JD 4640 with 3,855 hours and a JD 4020 with 5,821 hours. Good stuff.

Auctioneer on this sale is Mike Espe, www.espeauctions.com. Mike had another auction last Saturday (Aug. 8). Sold on that auction was a nice Bush Hog 2615 15-foot batwing mower. What did it sell for? Click here to view Bush Hog 2615 prices from the last five years, including the one sold on Mike's sale last Saturday ($7,300).

Wondering how JD 1518 15-foot batwing mower values compare to Woods 3180's and Bush Hog 2615s? Again, no need to guess. Click here to see the auction prices on JD 1518 mowers yourself.

Playing around with our auction sale price data and info on equipment available for sale on upcoming auctions is what I do all day, every day. Fun stuff. So fun I've started a new daily "Machinery Pete" YouTube video where I talk about stuff like this. Check out my first week's videos:

Go to www.machinerypete.com/search, click on "Machinery Pete Video"

  • "Is a 1982 JD 4440 tractor with 2,376 hours worth $39,900?"
  • "Case 1840 skid steer sold on southern Michigan sale Saturday for $6,500"
  • "Sale price highlights from nice west-central Minnesota auction 8/4"

I'll keep adding new videos daily, Monday-Friday, so keep checking back.
