What would you guess it would sell for?
A 1991 Deere 4255 mechanical front-wheel drive tractor with only 641 hours on it. We don't see those kind of low hours on a 15-year old tractor every day, do we? This tractor was up for sale on a farm auction back in early February in southwest New York state. It sold for $56,200.
How high is that? Going back through the past ten years of the auction sale price data my company compiles, the next highest JD 4255 tractor we saw sell at auction topped out at $47,700, back on March 14, 1997 for a 1989 model with 1,775 hours in east-central Iowa.
The trend continues; tractors 15-35 years old in great shape with lower hours are bringing top dollar at auctions around the country. Check out a few of the other eye opening sale prices we've seen so far in 2006 on very nice condition older tractors sold around the country.
