Sixteen late-model Cat tractors sold at South Dakota auction

Agriculture.com Staff 02/08/2007 @ 9:15am

Quite a sale they had out there in west-central South Dakota yesterday (February 7, 2007).

It's not every day you see a farm auction featuring 16 late-model Caterpillar track tractors, or ten 1998 JD 9610 combines, or five Kinze 840 grain carts. Nope, don't see auctions like that very often.

So how did things sell?

Pretty well it seems. Three Cat Challenger MT865 36-inch track tractors, with a range of 844 to 1,027 hours, each sold for $180,000. The ten 1998 JD 9610 combines sold from $60,500 up to $67,000.

The Kinze 840 grain carts?

I was interested to see how they'd sell as last Friday (February 2, 2007) I had seen a nice Kinze 840 grain cart sell for $13,600 on a farm auction in north-central Illinois. Back on January 10th I also had heard of a 1997 Kinze 840 that sold for $14,900 on a sale in northwest Illinois.

Click on the links below to see what the five Kinze 840 grain carts sold for at the South Dakota auction. The other link provided shows what other equipment sold for at the February 2, 2007, farm auction in north-central Illinois, including a pair of nice Ford-NH 8970 tractors.
