Sold at auction: Water towers, weed pullers and windmills

Agriculture.com Staff 05/11/2006 @ 8:45am

We have 75 different categories of equipment my company tracks auction sale price data on. Everything is alphabetized, nice and neat. We go from ATV’s to augers, beet equipment, blades, cars, cattle equipment, chisel plows ... down to trailers, trucks, undercutters and V-rippers.

Pretty much covers it all, right? Not exactly.

One of the largest categories in our database is labeled, "Miscellaneous". Over 3,700 sale prices in there last time I checked. Many of these items reported sold to us by our auctioneer network come in without a make or model.

The info we get will simply say, "set of 20.8-38 duals, good shape, sold for $800", or "GPS guidance system, good shape, sold for $2,250." Talk about variety. Click here to download a PDF of Miscellaneous items sold at auction reported to us over the last 16 months.

I love this stuff.

Some of my favorites from this list: a 10,000-gallon, hydraulic, single-axle, portable water tower sold for $17,000 in southwest California; a three-point 8R-30 weed puller with hydraulic drive and rubber tires sold for $650 in west-central Nebraska; and a complete windmill sold for $700, also on Nebraska.

Bottom line: I love tracking these auction sale prices, and I know for a fact that at some point, somebody out there is going to need to know, "What the heck is that worth?"
