Smart auctioneers have been doing this for a while now. On their regular periodic consignment sales they hold on their lots with tons of equipment for sale, they will market a mini line of equipment as being from one particular farm or farmer: “Farmer Joe from down the road has 2, 3, 5 or 8 items for sale."

Very smart.

Even online auctions are doing this now. Yesterday, October 10, 2012, www.Purplewave.com had an online ag equipment auction. Well over 100 pieces of equipment on the sale, including 12 belonging to one particular farmer from Oakley, KS. Ten of his equipment items are listed below, along with what each item wound up selling for (sale price includes 10% Purplewave.com buyer’s fee):
