Covering auctions in Iowa, Nebraska

GREG PETERSON 02/11/2011 @ 7:54am Greg Peterson writes "Machinery Pete" column for Successful Farming magazine and appears on the Machinery Show on RFD-TV, talking about trends in the used equipment market

Call it an early Spring Break trip.

I'm off to Bellwood, Neb. to cover a very nice farm retirement auction tomorrow, February 10th, for Harry & Sharon Schmit. The auction will be conducted by my friends at Stock Auction Company. This auction features (3) very low hour, "one owner" tractors that have always been shedded:

  • 1999 JD 8100 MFWD tractor with 1,191 hours
  • 2004 JD 7420 2WD tractor with 1,100 hours
  • 2001 JD 7710 2WD tractor with 1,904 hours

Also on this auction is a very nice 1997 Gleaner R62 combine with 1,758 engine hours. Here's an auction preview video I posted the other day, including a kitchen table chat with auctioneer Ron Stock and owners Harry & Sharon Schmit:

Wondering what that Gleaner R62 combine will sell for? Me too. The last one I ran across sold through the roof, the highest sale price I've seen on an R62 going all the way back to the year January 1996. It was a 2002 Gleaner R62 with 2,154 engine hours and it sold a farm auction January 25, 2011 in Ottawa, IL (north-central IL). Here, see for yourself how high it sold:

After the sale in Nebraska tomorrow I'll make my way over to northwest Iowa for another fantastic looking farm retirement auction Friday, Feb. 11th, in Inwood, IA. This sale also features some very, very low hour John Deere tractors:

  • 2005 JD 7820 MFWD with 560 hours
  • 2000 JD 9100 4WD tractor with 750 hours
  • 2003 JD 7520 MFWD tractor with 1,290 hours & 2003 JD 741 loader
  • 2005 JD 6220 tractor, open station, with 570 hours

This northwest Iowa farm sale also features a 2006 JD 9560 STS combine with 979 engine hours. Wonder what this harvester is worth? Click on the link below to view what I've seen other JD 9560's sell for.

Tomorrow evening and Friday night I will post video highlights from these auctions in our Machinery Pete Youtube channel.
