Equipment at upcoming auctions

GREG PETERSON 05/09/2012 @ 10:27am Greg Peterson writes "Machinery Pete" column for Successful Farming magazine and appears on the Machinery Show on RFD-TV, talking about trends in the used equipment market

What are you looking for?

New auction sale bills come in to our office throughout each day. Our staff takes them and enters all the equipment items on each sale bill into our “upcoming auctions” searchable database in our web site: www.machinerypete.com

This morning (May 9, 2012) we have 1,586 pieces of equipment listed, including 358 Tractors. Obviously with early May planting this isn’t the busiest time of year for machinery auctions, but still, nearly 1,600 pieces of equipment sorted by Type/Make/Model in our “upcoming auctions” database. At times in the winter we’ll get over 5,000 pieces of equipment in here.

Ok, so let’s say you’re looking for a JD 7520 MFWD tractor. Hop into our “upcoming auctions” database this morning and you’ll find (2) listed on upcoming auctions:

  • 5/12/12 farm auction: Watford City, North Dakota: 2003 model, 2,642 hours

  • 6/16/12 farm auction: Hillsboro, Ohio: 2007 model, 440 hours

So now the question becomes what are these JD 7520 tractors worth? See for yourself what other folks have been paying for nice condition JD 7520’s in the data table below showing auction sale prices I have compiled over the last 6 years all around the U.S. & Canada:

Now you have a sense of exactly what other buyers have been paying for similar

condition JD 7520 tractors, you’re armed and ready to bid. When these (2) JD 7520s sell on the North Dakota auction May 12th and the Ohio auction June 16th we’ll add those sale prices to our “auction results” database of sale prices at www.machinerypete.com

One other fun thing you can do in our “upcoming auctions” searchable database is pull up the entire list of equipment on particular auctions. Here’s the list of equipment on the May 12, 2012 farm auction in Watford City, ND:

Here’s the list of equipment for sale on the June 16, 2012 farm auction in Hillsboro, Ohio:

Again, as upcoming auction sale bills pour into our office each day, our staff just continues to pump the equipment on those sale bills into our “upcoming auctions” searchable database of equipment at www.machinerypete.com, updated each and every day.

If you are looking for equipment come check it out. And if you’re wondering what that piece of equipment is worth? We’ve got you covered there too. We’ll get the sale prices on all these items and plug them right into our “auction results” database...over 305,700 sale prices in there now, hundreds of fresh new sale prices on all types of equipment added daily.

www.Machinerypete.com (1-yr. subscription $69.95; 1-week $10):
