Trends on smaller-hp. used tractors

Let’s talk smaller-horsepower used tractors today.

Generally speaking, they’ve been trending up in value over the past year or so. Auction sale price data I’ve been compiling from all over the U.S. & Canada confirms this trend. One very recent example was the 1993 Case IH 695 front-wheel assist tractor (61 hp.) with 3,830 hours and a Case IH 2250 loader that sold last Saturday (Oct. 27, 2012) for $17,500 on a small farm auction in northeast Iowa. I featured this tractor in a new YouTube video I posted today:

A quick peek in the free “upcoming auctions” searchable database at our www.machinerypete.com website found another very nice < 100-hp. used tractor coming up for sale soon… a 2006 JD 5525 front-wheel assist tractor (91 hp.) with cab, a JD 542 loader, and only 578 hours. This farm estate auction is November 10 in East Bend, North Carolina. Here’s a preview video of this tractor in action:

So, what’s this 2006 JD 5525 FWA tractor with cab, loader, and 578 hours worth? Most likely more than it was worth a few years back. Earlier this year I saw a JD 5525 sell for a very strong sale price at auction; it was a 2008 Model 5525 with cab, FWA, JD 542 loader, 73-inch bucket, and 780 hours. It sold on a February 24, 2012, consignment auction in northeast Texas for $41,500. Last year on a March 5, 2011, farm auction in south-central Ontario, Canada, a JD 5525 with 364 hours, cab, FWA, JD 542 loader, and 7-foot bucket sold for $43,000.
