High school hoops & discbines
I can't read my own handwriting.
It's especially bad when I'm out an auction scribbling down sale prices as we move along the line from piece to piece. I can always make out the sale price, but it's the little comments I try to jot down that I sometimes have trouble deciphering when I get back to the office to enter the data into our www.Machinerypete.com website.
Case in point, Monday, I was out to a little farm auction just 20 minutes up the road in Pine Island, MN, a sale by Maring Auction Company (www.maringauction.com). This sale only lasted about 45 minutes. Not a lot of equipment, but I was drawn by the JD 8110 MFWD tractor with only 2,898 hours. Also some nice looking hay equipment.
As the sale moved along I got to visiting with a tall fella from northwest Wisconsin. Real nice guy. I asked his name. Don Hasselquist. Hmm, where have I heard that last name before? Hasselquist, Hasselquist. Ah, I remembered. The 1983 Minnesota State High School Boys Basketball tournament. Chisago Lakes H.S. had a tall guy with that last name.
Turns out that was Keith Hasselquist and the tall friendly farmer I was talking to at the auction in Pine Island Monday was his older brother Don Hasselquist. Don mentioned he drove down to the auction to look at the NH 1409 discbine up for sale. Seems Don has been shopping for a good used discbine for a while now. He mentioned what he'd really like to find is a nice NH 1411 discbine.
I jotted down Don's email address and told him I'd email him our auction price data we've compiled on NH 1411's. Now, back to the issue of my crummy handwriting...when I got back to the office I couldn't make out what I'd scribbled down for Don's email address.
So Don, I hope you're out there and will catch this column, it's for you. Maybe if anyone in northwest Wisconsin that knows Don reads this, or anyone from back home in Chisago Lakes, MN sees this, pass it along to Don if you don't mind. Tell him it's a note from Machinery Pete. Ok Don, here is that auction sale price data on NH 1411 discbines I told you I'd send:
