'Fantastic' auction lineup
A lot to write about on this auction.
Last Thursday, April 7, 2011, in the east-central part of Washington state, near Moses Lake, a farm retirement auction featuring a fantastic lineup of late-model equipment on a sale by Musser Bros. Inc. (14) late-model John Deere tractors on this auction...and again, this was a "farm" auction, not a dealer auction.
I've been seeing an increase in the number of these very large farm sales here the last few months. Quite a few large livestock operations restructuring it seems. How did thing sell? Exceptionally well, much like I've been seeing all over the U.S. and Canada since last November. Here's a Youtube video I just posted with some highlights from this Moses Lake, WA auction last Thursday, including footage of a 2004 JD 7920 MFWD tractor with 1,454 hours selling for a new record high price:
One of the tractors I didn't highlight in my Youtube video was the 2004 JD 6420 MFWD with 645 hours. The 90 horsepower tractor was in "good" condition and sold without a loader. It went for $48,000. Click on the link below to view all the auction sale prices I've compiled on JD 6420's over the past seven years:
$48,000 is one of the highest auction sale prices I've seen for a 6420 sold without a loader. This Washington auction actually had a second 6420, a 2002 MFWD model with 1,313 hours and no loader. It sold for $42,000.
In the YouTube video I show a complete list of items sold on this east-central Washington auction. We built functionality into our website a while back that allows users to click on any sale price in our "auction results" database and a pop up screen appears listing all the items sold on that particular sale.
Very useful context I think. Did everything sell high on that auction? When you look at the sale price list from this Washington auction last Thursday, you quickly see that yes, all the equipment did sell for strong money. Of course you'd get the same sense from looking at sale price reports from almost any auction these days.
More proof? Here's a YouTube video I posted last Saturday after getting back from covering a farm estate auction in Eyota, MN by Maring Auction Company. The 1996 CaseIH 7250 MFWD tractor with 2,758 hours I wrote about in my column last week? It too sold for a new record high sale price. Also record high sale prices on the Gehl 125 grinder/mixer and the Kinze 3000 6R-30 planter with 6 splitter units. See for yourself:
