The commodity trade on the CBOT saw a mixed opening Friday morning, with corn down but soybeans and wheat on the high side, according to market analyst Jason Ward of Northstar Commodity Investment Co., in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
July corn opened the Friday CBOT session down 0.5 at $4.30, but rallied 10 shortly thereafter to trade mid-morning 0.5 higher. January soybeans opened up 2.5 at $11.01, a trend that Ward says continued in early trading to 7.5 higher at $11.065. Wheat opened up 4 at $8.95, and saw early mid-morning strength to the tune of 6.5 higher, Ward adds.
