USDA, in its monthly supply report released Friday, estimated 10.872 million head of cattle on feed, 5% above a year ago. As of July 1, USDA estimated 1.951 million head of cattle were placed in feedlots, 10% above a year ago, and marketings at 2.203 million head were 6% above a year ago.
