Cattle seen mixed, hogs flat Monday

08/06/2012 @ 8:26am

CME live cattle futures are expected to open in mixed fashion as some traders may be cautious buyers in nearby months following Friday's weak close. Feeder cattle are seen firm due in part to lower corn prices in electronic trading and speculation that feeder prices may have established a seasonal floor last month. Lean hog futures are predicted to trade near flat in the front months on cash caution offset by views that Friday's steep declines may have been overdone. Distant-month hogs may move up on outlook for tighter supplies next year due to high feed costs. (curt.thacker@dowjones.com)
