USDA: Corn harvest 6% complete

USDA's weekly Crop Progress Report rated the corn and soybean crop conditions nearly equal to last week.

On Monday, the USDA reported the corn crop 59% good/excellent, 25% fair, and 16% very poor-poor. The corn is 6% harvested, equal to a year ago. Also, 91% of the corn is dented and 34% mature.

For soybeans, 60% of the crop is rated good/excellent, 27% fair, and 13% very poor-poor. Also, 27% of the soybean leaves are dropping, compared to 34% a year ago.

The winter wheat planting is 9% complete, behind 11% a year ago.

As of Sunday, 10% of the cotton crop was harvested, compared to 9% a year ago. USDA rated the crop 39% good/excellent, 28% fair, and 33% very-poor to poor.
