Brazil's corn harvest starts

06/04/2012 @ 1:42pm

Weather for Brazil's winter corn crop has been excellent in the past month and producers in the states of Parana and Mato Grosso are just beginning their harvest, grains consultancy Celeres says. While the smaller of Brazil's two corn crops will remain vulnerable to frost for some time, temperatures aren't expected to fall below freezing in coming weeks, Celeres adds. The firm reiterates its forecast for Brazil to harvest 29M metric tonnes of winter corn, up 40% year-on-year. (paul.kiernan@dowjones.com)
