Corn tanks below trading range

Jeff Caldwell 11/17/2011 @ 1:18pm Multimedia Editor for Agriculture.com and Successful Farming magazine.

Corn futures "fell out of bed" Thursday, with late trading falling more than 30 cents lower and leading all grains lower.

December corn fell to 31 1/4 cents lower Thursday afternoon, settling at $6.11 1/2 per bushel, slipping south of the bottom end of a month-long trading range, analysts said. January soybeans were 22 1/4 cents lower at $11.65 1/2 per bushel and December wheat was 24 1/2 cents lower at $5.92 1/4.

Weak export numbers and global debt worries continued to drive the slide, with the former putting extra pressure on the corn trade after disappointing export numbers released Thursday morning.
