Early calls for corn, wheat, and soybeans

08/20/2010 @ 7:37am

CHICAGO, Illinois (Agriculture.com)--The pre-opening prices for the CME Group grain commodities for Friday, August 20, 2010 are lower. The early calls for corn are 2-4 cents lower, soybeans down 6-8 cents and wheat 5-7 lower.

In overnight electronic trading, the Dec. corn futures contract traded 3 3/4 cents lower at $4.25 1/4 per bushel. The Nov. soybean futures contract traded 8 1/4 cents lower at $10.04 per bushel. The Sep. wheat futures contract traded 7 3/4 cents lower at $7.06 1/2. For Dec. soymeal futures, the contract traded $0.20 per short ton lower at $293.10, and Dec. soyoil down 0.35 point at $40.13.

The outside markets are not supportive for Friday's grain trade. The real factor driving the lower early calls are the lower overnight markets.
