Soybeans Settle 13¢ Lower
DES MOINES, Iowa (Agriculture.com)--On Thursday, from start to finish, the CME Group corn, soybean, and wheat markets traded lower.
The May corn futures contract settled 1 cent lower at $5.01. The Dec. corn futures finished 1/4 cent lower at $5.05. The May soybean futures contract settled 13 cents lower at $14.82. The Nov. soybean futures finished 2 cents lower at $12.25. May wheat futures closed 6 3/4 cents lower at $6.62 per bushel. The May soymeal futures contract ended $2.60 per short ton lower at $479.50. The May soyoil futures finished $0.41 lower at $42.50.
In the outside markets, the Brent crude oil is $0.29 per barrel lower, the dollar is lower, and the Dow Jones Industrials are 247 points lower. Helen Pound, KCG Futures senior futures market specialist, says warmer Midwest temperatures and liquidation pressure today's farm markets.
"Traders have begun to pick up the pace of May futures liquidation with 14 sessions until First Notice Day. The “Goldman Roll” ends tomorrow," Pound stated in a newsletter to customers.
