Low soybean prices cause huge losses for Brazil farmers

SAO PAULO (Dow Jones)--Brazil farmers lost 13.6 billion Brazilian reals ($6.3 billion) in production value in 2005 compared to 2004, with 80% of the losses due to falling soybean prices at the time, the Brazilian Census Bureau, or IBGE, said Wednesday.
