Boehringer Ingelheim sells insecticide business

Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc., (BIVI) announced today that it has sold its animal insecticide product lines and related manufacturing facility in Elwood, Kansas, to KMG Chemicals, Inc., of Houston, Texas. Numerous cattle ear tags, insecticide sprays and other insecticide products for use on or around livestock are included in the divestment.

BIVI will continue to distribute the products on behalf of KMG until August 1, 2006. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.

BIVI President and Chief Operating Officer George Heidgerken says the company is now focusing on vaccines for food animals and specialty pharmaceuticals.
