Pioneer leaders say corn market share grew in 2009

Agriculture.com Staff 12/08/2009 @ 12:48pm

Officials with Pioneer Hi-Bred say data from 2009 on-farm trials show the company's market share is on the rise.

"The results we're seeing in the field support another year of strong growth in market share," says Frank Ross, Pioneer vice president and regional director, North America. He adds trials showed a continued yield advantage while maintaining herbicide trait protection through "significant performance improvement" in triple-stacked varieties.

"Our approach of matching the right product with the right acre is paying off and the result is that current orders are keeping the same pace as last year's invoicing progress, which was a record year of growth for Pioneer," Ross adds.

Pioneer officials say they're looking ahead to building the company's corn hybrid offerings based on "agronomic strengths" from the 2009 crop year. More than 85,000 Pioneer on-farm field trials were conducted this year.
