Early calls for corn, wheat, and soybeans

08/18/2010 @ 7:14am

CHICAGO, Illinois (Agriculture.com)--The pre-opening prices for the CME Group grain commodities for Wednesday, August 18, 2010 are lower. The early calls for corn are 3-5 cents lower, soybeans down 7-9 cents and wheat 3-5 lower.

In overnight electronic trading, the Dec. corn futures contract traded 4 cents lower at $4.26 per bushel. The Nov. soybean futures contract traded 10 3/4 cents lower at $10.31 1/4 per bushel. The Sep. wheat futures contract traded 3 1/2 cents lower at $6.80 1/4. For Dec. soymeal futures, the contract traded $1.80 per short ton lower at $298.00, and Dec. soyoil down 0.43 point at $41.78.

The outside markets are not supportive for Wednesday's grain trade. The real factor driving the lower early calls are the lower overnight markets.
