Machinery Pete: 1985 JD 4450 Sells for $42,500
Things I posted on my Machinery Pete Facebook page this week:
It's Worth More Than $1,500
A farmer from Michigan called me yesterday with a question. Seems he owns a very nice condition AC WD45 tractor that has been in the family since it was purchased new. Now this Michigan farmer is thinking of selling. A local guy offered him $1,500. Seemed too low to my Michigan caller. He wanted my opinion.
He's right. $1,500 isn't enough. The simple fact that this WD45 is a "one owner" tractor and been in the same family for 50-plus years makes it worth more, especially given that it's in very nice condition. Check out the higher end auction sale prices in the link below, a list of all the auction sale prices I've compiled on AC WD45 tractors over the last 10 years:
Video: 1948 Farmall Cub tractor sold on Missouri sale
I stood right next to this tractor as it sold last Tuesday (August 24th) on a farm auction near Hannibal, MO. Gotta love these little Cub tractors. Every time I see a nice one up for sale on an auction they never fail to generate a lot of interest, from interested bidders yes, but also from folks who just enjoy looking at them and talking about them. Here's that video clip from the Missouri auction, also below is a link to all the Farmall Cub tractors I've seen sold at auction the past decade:
I just got this auction sale price report this week from a recent farm auction held in south-central North Dakota. I always skim these sale price reports quickly when they first come in to see what catches my eye.
$42,500 for a 25-year old JD 4450 definitely catches my eye.I knew that sale price figure seemed high, but how high? So I dove into our "auction results" database in our web site and quickly found the answer. The 8th highest auction sale price on a JD 4450 tractor I've seen in the last 10 years.
