USDA's Schafer visits CBOT floor--Watch video

CHICAGO, Illinois (Agriculture Online)---USDA Agriculture Secretary Ed Schafer made a pit stop on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade on Tuesday.

Secretary Schafer told reporters the U.S. has more wheat available for world food aid, beyond President Bush's $200 million commitment Monday. Reporters also asked Schafer if he sees any changes to the U.S. biofuel policy......

The EPA can waive requirements to use more ethanol in an emergency, according to Congressional reports.

Countries such as Argentina, India, Vietnam, Egypt, and others have announced plans to curb food exports to secure supplies.
