With follow-through from the overnight markets, combined with optimism from the weekend's meeting on the European debt crisis, a rally is expected with the CME Group farm futures Monday.
The Early Calls for the commodities on Monday, October 24, 2011, are higher. Corn is seen opening 10-12 cents higher, soybeans 14-16 cents higher, and wheat up 10-12 cents.
In overnight electronic trading, the Dec. corn futures contract traded 11 1/4 cents higher at $6.60 1/2 per bushel. The Nov. soybean futures contract traded 17 1/2 cents higher at $12.29 3/4 per bushel. The Dec. wheat futures contract traded 12 cents higher at $6.44. For Dec. soymeal futures, the contract traded $3.70 per short ton higher at $320.20 and Dec. soyoil $0.70 higher at $51.95.
The outside markets are mostly favorable for Monday's grain trade. The real factors driving the calls will be the higher overnight markets.
