Ag Outlook Forum preview

02/21/2012 @ 11:51am

With the USDA taking their first stab, this week, at what the U.S. 2012/13 Supply/Demand spreadsheets will look like, marketwatchers will keep one eye on the projections.

Beginning Thursday, February 23, 2012, the USDA will begin its annual two-day Agriculture Outlook Conference in Washington, D.C.

Dan Looker, Successful Farming Business Editor, attending this year's conference, says the highlights feature comments from USDA's Secretary and Chief Economist, along with break-out sessions on exports, grain and livestock market outlooks and crop-weather.

For weeks, marketwatchers have been trying to prognosticate whether the WASDE will release bullish or bearish 2012/13 U.S. corn and wheat ending stock numbers.

"The outlook for the U.S. new crop is really all about weather and yield, But WASDE's first attempt at the balance sheet will incorporate the 2nd highest U.S. corn yield estimate on record," AgResource grain analysts wrote in a daily letter to customers Tuesday.
